If you’ve been wondering what to get that hard-to-shop for person on your Christmas list who seems to have it all, why not consider home window tinting?

It isn’t a gift most people think of when brainstorming holiday gift ideas, but it should be! This can be an especially great gift for friends or family members who have recently bought homes or renovated their existing ones. Why?

Prevents Fading or Discoloration

Window tint can help to prevent premature fading or discoloration of the fabric items inside a person’s home. This increases their lifespan, thus giving the homeowner a (significantly) better return on investment. It also allows for longer practical application of a variety of things, such as:

  • Furniture like couches, love seats, cloth recliner chairs, etc.
  • Carpeting and rugs
  • Artwork (paintings in particular)
  • Curtains, table clothes, and other cloth decorations
  • Family photographs, which are also susceptible to fading or discoloration from direct sunlight

Adds Aesthetic Appeal

Tinting home windows is a quick way to add a significant amount of aesthetic appeal and quickly boost curb appeal. Darkened windows simply look better than their clear counterparts for a few different reasons.

The dark coloring, for starters, goes well with any exterior façade. By preventing individuals from seeing inside the home, tinted windows also allow for an interrupted view of the exterior of a home without the distraction of what may lay beyond the windows.

Gift That Keeps Giving – Financially Speaking

When you give the gift of window tint for the holiday season you are giving your loved one a gift that will keep giving back financially. How so?

Window tint helps to reduce the amount of heating and cooling efforts lost through the window panes. This means that utility costs can be lowered, although how much can range widely depending on a great number of factors.

Window tint can also help to decrease the risk of breakage, which would result in needing to replace the windows – which certainly doesn’t come cheap. While the amount of protection offered by average window tint is minimal, there are certain types of window film which are specifically designed to protect windows.

How to Give the Gift

There are two different ways you can give the gift of window tint. The first way is to simply purchase the window tint and/or services for your loved one. The other is to purchase a gift card to use towards the purchase of window film and professional installation as the recipient sees fit.

For more gifts the second is more appropriate, because it ensures that the recipient gets exactly what they want for their home. They can choose to go a little more expensive and pitch in some of their own money or go cheaper and get only what your gift card allows. The choice is up to them.

As for how much a gift card can be, that is also up to you. In general, it’s suggested that friends or extended family members receive between $25 and $50 gift cards, while close friends could receive $50 to $100. Close family members may receive gift cards upwards of $100.
